In 1964, Omonia was opened by Costas Georgaklis, a family man. Opening as a retail store specializing in veal, Costas had one priority: Making sure that his client got the highest quality of veal, and excellence in service. To his clients, it was clear that Costas truly believed this philosophy as he hand-picked every piece of veal it served. It was only a few years before Omonia expanded from their retail store into wholesale and distribution, setting the path for what it is today…
It had been years that Costas’ son Denis started working for Omonia. Wanting to follow in his fathers’ footsteps, Denis was eager to learn the ins and outs of the business. Starting doing deliveries, he made his way through every position throughout the company, making sure he didn’t miss a thing. With his fathers’ guidance, in 1987 Denis was able to take over Omonia without compromising it’s philosophy: Quality and Service.
With the high demand in wholesale and distribution, Omonia moved from their retail store on Fairmont to it’s current state of the art facilities at 631 Ogilvy street, Montreal. With the expanded space and new equipment, Omonia is able to give their clients the service they deserve.
In 2015, Omonia takes to the internet and launches a new website to connect with clients on the web.
Even though some aspects of the company have changed since that first day in 1964, Omonia has remained a leader in veal distribution around Montreal. It doesn’t matter whether you ask the staff that’s been there for over 25 years or the customers who have stuck by their side for over 40 years, they will all note the same thing; Quality and Service.
…and yes, Denis, still to this day, handpicks every piece of meat sold to make sure that philosophy is upheld!
